The View From The Helm
June 2008
It is June! Welcome the warmth! Welcome the summer of planning and preparation. Welcome the Wareham Gatemen on June 17th 9:00 p.m. at the Roland Thatcher Function Hall where we will host the team to an apres game meal. You are invited to assist if you wish. Contact Hazel at the office or her e-mail address on our web site ‘firstcongowareham.com.
Through the charity of a donor who wishes to remain anonymous we now have a church web site which you may visit by typing the site address, firstcongowareham.com, into your user search engine. A short history of the church is provided, the weekly bulletin, the Pastor’s newsletter page, weekly prayer list, children’s events, weddings (at church), baptisms, directions to the church, and committee meetings etc. You may also contact the office at office@firstcongowareham.co or pastorb@firstcongowareham.com.
In addition the Relay for Life walk at the High School will be taking place on June 20th and 21st. Contact Jean Smith. This information is also available on the website. The Golf Tournament date has been set for October 11th and mark you July Calendar for an Las Vegas style entertainment event: ‘Joey Canzano- the Man of Many Voices’ July 26th ; admission price and time for the show to be announced (TBA). It is June. It is the half way point of the calendar year. It is not yet officially summer and the weather is cooperating to this extent with cool temperatures, rain, and wind. But to paraphrase the Postal motto “Neither cool temperatures, rain nor wind can stay the appointed rounds of the seasons.” Fortunately for us the Son shines upon us at all times, present wherever two or three are gathered in His name, the warmth of His embrace always around us.
It is June. Schools are or will be out soon. Keep a watchful out eye for kids on bikes, crossing the street, roaming where they are not expected. Walking is pleasant, biking is fun. Both save on gas while tuning up our body’s health and both have the capacity to tune up our spiritual health by re-opening our awareness of God’s good creation all around us. The lilacs have passed, so stop and smell the roses, talk with your neighbors again, bake some bread ( or a pie; sugar free would be nice), learn and return to simpler, more social and spiritual times.
Peace and Blessings,
Pastor Bob
